Aparneesh’s Introduction
Hello everyone! My name is Aparneesh Patil, and I am currently a junior majoring in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. I was born in India but have been in the US for the past 11 years, residing in St. Louis, Missouri. With this dual degree, I’m hoping to pursue a career in either machine learning or quant finance.

Why Data Science?
During my undergrad research, I found that I really enjoy working with data and building neural network models using real-world datasets. That experience sparked a deeper interest in data science and led me to the DSPG program. Through this program, I hope to improve my skills in R and SQL while also refining my skills in Python. I’m excited to use these tools on meaningful projects and continue growing as a data scientist.
Skills
One skill that I value and appreciate about myself is my tenacity. In tough situations, rather than finding the easy way out, I like to push through the struggle and find a solution to the problem. I also value my communication and collaborative skills.
Hobbies
In my free time, you’ll either catch me in the gym or playing basketball. I also love watching sports and recently got hooked on hockey and football. Other than that, I spend my time hanging out with my family and friends.
Fun Fact
I can understand 4 languages (though my speech is broken in 2 of them) and also have double-jointed elbows (which means my elbows have an unusually large range of motion).
